Simple tomato sauce





2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
6 fresh basil leaves, torn
2 lb peeled and chopped fresh or canned tomatoes
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Put the garlic and oil in a large skillet and saute over medium heat until
the garlic is golden brown. Add the basil and tomatoes. Season with salt and
pepper, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the oil begins to
separate from the tomato.
